We traveled to Brewster's Natual History Museum today to participate in Mudflat Mania. You basically explore the shore after the tide has gone out to discover the creatures who are left behind. The kids loved it! First we walked along a very long marshy and wooded trail.
At low tide the water is almost a mile away from shore.
Shawn was the king of hermit crabs. He found them all over the place and before we knew it, his bucket was full of them!
This was after only a few minutes, by the end of the adventure he had so many.
We found very big crabs too! Molly and I were afraid of these ones.
Matthew learned how to spot a moon snail and then taught the rest of us.
(something happened to my camera here........it is all blurry)
Molly thought they tickled as they slithered across her hand.
On our way back, the kids were drawn to the mud.
It was a great way to spend a day.
