Jack and Matthew's First WLYC Sunfish Regatta

The morning started with the Commodore overseeing all of the sailors.
He then came down to deliver coffee and donuts to Nana.  She came down just to see the boys sail.
Jack's sail is all white with no numbers and Matthew is the white sail with a red hull.  This is a picture of the starting line.  Both boys figured out their timing and had great starts.
The first day there was little wind.  Matthew got 3 firsts and 2 seconds.
Jack woke up with a fever that morning of 101.  He was devestated that he might not be able to sail, so he took some Motrin and hoped to complete the day.  For someone who did not feel well, he did great!  He came in fourth almost every race.
It was so great to see both of them compete and have fun.
Nana loved every minute and the weather was perfect for spectating.  Matthew is in the distance.

Molly and Shawn were good sports to be out on the boat for a few hours, but were happy to have special treats from Doe Doe.
I love this picture of the boys on the water.
The second day was VERY windy and more of a challenge.  Matthew tipped over one race and Jack nearly avoided a collision with other sailors.  Both of them had boat problems and had to re-rig their boats during the race.  Chris was very impressed by this.  Overall it was a great experience.  Jack came in fourth and Matthew held onto first place!!!  He beat sailors who were 13 and 15! Who knew we had such great yachtsmen in the family!  Congratulations Matthew! Whoo hoo!
